Liverpool 99 Boys
Profile
Jonny was brought up in a family with a lot of history in professional football, and has therefore always been involved in the sport. His own playing career includes representing both his home town of Burnley & home county of Lancashire (equivalent to state), along with experiencing national success whilst at college and university. Jonny has also been fortunate enough to represent the following professional and semi-professional football clubs at youth and senior level respectively:
- Burnley FC (Coca-Cola Championship, England) - Center of Excellence/Academy Level
- Nelson FC (North West Counties League, England) - U19, Reserve & First Team Level
Having played as goalkeeper for the majority of his career, Jonny holds a special desire to coach other goalkeepers along with his team and academy responsibilities. However, his playing career has also seen him frequently experience life as an outfield player at every level he has played.
Having coached through his high school, college & university days with players of all ages, Jonny graduated with a B. A. (Hons) degree in Physical Education from the renowned Carnegie Faculty of Sport an Education at Leeds Metropolitan University (located in Yorkshire, England). Following this he joined the company of Major League Soccer Camps in early 2007 with whom he has since coached with across Utah, California and Texas, and is now the current head trainer for the company in North Texas. His qualifications include:
- English Football Association Level 1
- English Football Association Emergency First Aid
- English Football Association Child Protection
- Currently in the process of completing his NSCAA State & Regional Goalkeeping Diplomas
Jonny’s coaching philosophy is to provide a fun, varied, challenging, and inspirational learning environment for every player he is associated with. His attitude towards coaching follows the principles of William Ward that “the mediocre coach tells, the good coach explains, the superior coach demonstrates, and the great coach inspires.”
