RASE 05 played in the PrimeTime Sports Summer Classic tournament May 4-5th, in Carrollton, TX. The girls started the weekend versus the Green Stars out of Duncanville, Texas. The girls were huge, but our girls faced the challenge by playing to their strength and moving the ball around to wear down the other team. In the 2nd pool game of Saturday, the RASE 05 girls faced TFC 04G Angell, the TFC team presented a great challenge for the girls but ultimately finished the game ahead 2-0. The girls all met after the game in Lewisville at BJ's to celebrate the days activities as a team over dinner.
Sunday brought a new challenge as the girls faced a beefed up DT North 04 team with several talented guest players the girls welcomed the challenge and played their tails off but dropped that game 3-0, but still advanced to the semifinal. The semifinal game against Sting East 04 Chacon was a rematch of a previously played SDL D1 04 game played a month back in which RASE defeated Sting 4-1, this time around the Sting girls brought a new level of intincity but ultimately fell 2-0 to RASE 05. The final ended up being a rematch against DT North and the girls all played amazing soccer, building from the back connecting multiple passes as they moved the ball down the field but ultimately conceded 1 goal and missed several solid opportunities to fall to the DT North girls 1-0. The girls all walked off the field heads held high knowing they left it all on the field!
Playing up in the 04 age group, the RASE 05 Girls had an outstanding weekend highlighted by wins against several quality 04 teams, and scoring 15 goals while conceding only 1 the entire tournament!
The pool games started with Sting West 04 Davis. The girls started strong scoring 2 goals and finished the game 2-1 giving up a goal on an unfortunate foul in the box. In the 2nd pool game the RASE 05 girls faced a talented Lady Aztecs 04 girls team. The game was highlighted by excellent keeper play by both teams and ended in a 0-0 tie. The final pool game of the day was played at 8PM vs the REDS 04. The girls turned it up a notch scoring 7 goals and again the RASE 05 Keeper locked down the few opportunities the REDS 04 team did get, including making an amazing save near the end of the 1st half of the game to perserve the shutout.
The playoffs started bright and early Sunday morning with the sunrise game at 8AM vs SRFC. The girls played great despite all being deprived of rest. The defense remained stingy pitching another shutout, while the offense came alive scoring 4!
The final was a re-match between the Lady Aztecs 04 and RASE 05, after Lady Aztecs defeated Sting West Davis 04 2-0 in the Semifinals. RASE scored 1 goal late in the 1st half and added one more in the second. The highlight play of the game, however, was a free kick save by the RASE Keeper that was headed for the top of the net. She made an unbelievable play leaping up and deflecting it over the goal. It was another amazing job by her keeping the shutout alive in the final and ultimately sealing the win for the Liverpool RASE 05 girls in the 2013 Plano Spring Kicks Championship game.
RASE 05 Girls traveled up to Tulsa, OK on April 12-14th to match up with some top Oklahoma '04 teams in the Tulsa Lexus Cup. The girls had a blast, both on the field and during their stay at the hotel for their first time as a group.
The RASE Girls played well and went undefeated in pool play with an impressive goal differential of 16-2. This earned them a trip to the finals where they were pitted against TSCH 04 Kitterman, the top 04 team in Oklahoma. TSCH Kitterman also finished pool play undefeated where they conceded 0 goals!
Wind was a major factor in the final, helping RASE to go up 2-0 at the half. With the wind at their back in the second half, TSCH was able to tie it up 2-2 at the end of regulation. The first period of overtime ended scoreless. The second period of overtime remained scoreless as well until RASE had an unfortunate handball in the box with about 30 seconds to go. TSCH took advantage on the PK with a perfectly placed ball in the corner of the net. Needless to say, it was a very exciting and evenly matched final. The RASE girls were disappointed in the final result, but had a great time overall and have memories that will last forever. They are looking forward to their next road trip.
